The world has significantly prolonged the human lifespan, by this time, to the point where people rarely die except by accident, and where the Earth has become grossly overpopulated. One other standout for me was the story "The Clown Puppet", in the first section, "Derangements". This would keep your youngest two busy for quite some time. Each story takes place in a different locale, sometimes at opposite ends of the world, and the author transports the reader smoothly from one location to the next. If you notice a few literary magazines who received a special mention a few years back and aren’t on the list, that’s because I’ve only recently started adding literary magazines with only a single point. Erdrich’s novel Love Medicine and Allen’s novel The Woman Who Owned the Shadows have been compared to those of Silko in terms of their perspective on tradition and their portrayal of issues around gender in Native American culture. However, the best stories in the book are excellent: a high spot is Toby Litt�s short piece, which works beautifully with Nihil Engin Vrana�s afterword. It won’t cost you much to pick it up at a used bookstore or at Amazon, so if you haven’t read it, you should. One of my favorite stories, probably because of my love of muscle cars, is "Timing Chains of the Heart", in which J. Science Fiction & Fantasy, Science Fiction, Anthologies, 90 Minutes (44-64 Pages), Literature & Fiction, Anthologies & Short Stories Coulter is supposed to be an agent working with Anita Cross to observe the Inari on Earth, but he reveals a different side following the battle at NeoGen Labs.
